Celebrating 80 years of VE Day at Majesticare

Honouring Heroes

This year marks the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day – an occasion of great historical significance and emotional resonance. Across our Majesticare family of care homes, we came together to honour the courage, resilience, and sacrifices made during World War II. With music, community spirit, and heartfelt remembrance, each of our homes brought their own unique flair to the celebration.

Oaktree Court, Somerset

Our Somerset home truly brought the community together in celebration and reflection. Oaktree Court hosted a day filled with joy and gratitude, featuring live music, a visit from the local Mayoress, and the company of proud local veterans. Residents, families, and team members enjoyed singing, dancing, and sharing stories from the past. Most importantly, the home raised funds for Combat Stress, a charity supporting veterans who continue to live with the long-lasting effects of service.

Cavendish Park, Evesham

Cavendish Park brought the VE Day street party to life! With bunting fluttering, live music filling the air, and plenty of delicious nibbles to go around, the day was one of joyful connection and nostalgia. Members from all aspects of the community, including the local Evesham police, came together for a moment of connection and celebration.

Haddenham Park, Buckinghamshire

At Haddenham Park Care Home & Apartments, the team dressed in wartime attire and recreated the spirit of the 1940s with an afternoon of food, music, and swing dancing. Their incredible effort transformed St Mary’s Centre into a place of vibrant celebration, with community members joining in to mark the day with pride.

Milton Ernest Hall, Bedfordshire

At Milton Ernest Hall, residents celebrated in the stunning grounds of the home with a VE Day picnic party. The event was made extra special with a visit from a local ice cream van – bringing smiles, laughter, and a sweet treat for all to enjoy.

A Day to Remember, Together

VE Day isn’t just about looking back – it’s about carrying forward the legacy of unity, resilience, and community. We’re incredibly proud of our teams for creating such moving and memorable experiences across all our homes. The love, laughter, and shared moments made this year’s VE Day celebration one we won’t forget.
