Ray’s Just For Me Moment Takes Flight

At Majesticare, we believe that age is just a number, and our beloved resident Ray at Cavendish Park Care Home in Evesham recently proved this to be true in the most spectacular fashion. It all started when the Activities Team listened to Ray recounting his childhood memory of gliding when he was just four-years old. He wished to relive that experience once again 90 years later! So the Cavendish Park Family absolutely had to make this happen.

Planning the Adventure

When preparing for the exciting day a dedicated team, led by Home Manager Mel and Activities Coordinator Tea, immediately set to work. They reached out to the Stratford on Avon Gliding Club, explaining Ray’s story and his desire to glide once again. The club was more than happy to accommodate, and a date was set for Ray’s Just For Me Moment.

The Big Day Arrives

Finally, the day of Ray’s gliding experience arrived. The weather was perfect – clear skies with just the right amount of wind for gliding. After a hearty breakfast to fuel him for the day ahead, Ray, Mel, and Tea set off for the Stratford on Avon Gliding Club.

Upon arrival, Ray listened attentively as the instructors explained the gliding process and safety measures. He was introduced to his gliding partner for the day. As they chatted, the pilot made a surprising offer – he would let Ray take control of the glider for part of the flight!

With Mel and Tea cheering him on, Ray was helped into the glider. The glider began to move, picking up speed along the runway. In the sky they had a stunning panoramic view of the Stratford-upon-Avon countryside. Once they reached a stable altitude, the pilot made good on his promise. Under careful supervision, Ray was allowed to take control of the glider.

A Day to Remember

Since his adventure into the sky, Ray has had such lovely comments on social media, our team members were touched by his super special moment. Ray’s gliding journey is a shining example of what we strive for at Majesticare. It’s a testament to the power of cherished memories and the importance of continuing to create new ones.
