An age to celebrate: Kathleen turns 104!

Join us in celebrating the incredible Kathleen as she turns 104 years young!

Kathleen is a resident of the memory care community at Oaktree Court Care Home in Wellington, Somerset.

Kathleen’s Life

Kathleen was born in 1920 in the Midlands as one of three sisters who were very close growing up. After leaving school, she worked as a photographer for the Dunlop Rubber Company where she met her husband Dennis in the Advertising Department. They married in 1955 and soon relocated to Farnham, Surrey where they had two daughters, Alex and Fiona.

Kathleen’s greatest passion was pottery. She amassed an impressive collection over the years and was also a talented potter herself, continuing to create beautiful ceramics into her 90s.

Kathleen and Dennis loved traveling the world together and visiting new places, but Cornwall was always a special retreat. They vacationed often in St Ives where her sister Edna lived, making treasured family memories over the years.

In addition to arts, Kathleen adored animals. Her home was constantly filled with an assortment of pets that she cared for with love and dedication.

A Milestone Birthday

While Kathleen has enjoyed many hobbies and adventures over her 104 years, her family was always at the centre. She has been a nurturing mother and built a legacy through her 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren (plus one on the way!).

Kathleen’s milestone birthday reminds us how precious life is. Her family and friends are so thankful for the joy she has brought to them through many generations. Kathleen truly has lived a rich, meaningful life and still has so much wisdom to share.

Kathleen spent her very special day in the gorgeous Garden Room we have here at Oaktree Court. It is a bright and open room which was delightfully filled with birthday cakes, banners, food and big balloons. Kathleen was surrounded by her family, friends and team for a super birthday party!

Kathleen’s Secret

We asked Kathleen what the secret was the aging and wellness. She revealed that her magic potion is in fact… milk!
