The landscaped gardens provide a tranquil place with beautiful plants and flowerbeds, where our residents can enjoy the wildlife, sit and chat or read and for those feeling energetic, get your hands dirty with some gardening.

Led by our National Award winning leisure manager we offer a wide and imaginative selection of opportunities for all our residents to discover. As active members of the local community, we welcome a wide variety of visitors to our home to share their knowledge and experiences with our residents.
Our mini-bus is often out and about with our residents, whether you enjoy visiting local places of interest, theatre trips or going shopping, there will be an outing for you! We have staff trained to provide a fun and engaging fitness programme, family and friends are welcome to join in whilst visiting Oak Lodge.
Wine and Dine
Our catering and hospitality team invites you to join us for a social enjoyable dining experience. Skilled chefs create appetizing, nutritionally balanced and beautifully presented food, with menus that change daily.
We cater for every taste and diet and our food is sourced locally and freshly prepared. Meals and refreshments are available throughout the day and there is always someone nearby to help.

The Local Area and Where to Find Us
Situated within the historic market town of Chard, Somerset, Oak Lodge Luxury Care Home is six miles from Illminster and seven miles from Axminster.
Getting out for a breath of fresh air or having a day out somewhere interesting, there are plenty of delightful places to visit within close proximity or a short drive away from Oak Lodge Care Home. Majesticare care homes encourage residents to make outings, some of which are listed below.
Flanked by two streams and a wide variety of good shops, Chard’s history is imaginatively recounted in the museum at Godworthy House, which also houses the Stringfellow Collection, celebrating the inventor of powered flight. Chard Reservoir Nature Reserve and Hornsbury Mill with its working wheel and landscaped water garden are not far from the town and also worth visiting.
Forde Abbey (4.5 miles) Chard
This magnificent Cistercian monastery is a great setting for a day out. The buildings seen today were all in existence in the Middle Ages. They formed the abbot's and monks' quarters, their kitchen, refectories, and their chapter house. The abbey church has gone, together with the guest wing and three sides of the cloisters. There is a plant centre, gift shop and pottery exhibition.
Horn Park Gardens (9 miles) Beaminster
Horn Park is in a breathtaking setting. The house was built in 1910 by a pupil of Lutyens and beautiful, extensive gardens surround the house with sweeping views down to the sea. Explore the plantsman's garden full of unusual trees, shrubs and plants in rock and water gardens, terraces and herbaceous borders, woodland garden, bluebell woods and a wild flower meadow with over 160 species including orchids.
