Amanda Kelly - Home Manager at Oak Lodge Care Home

My name is Amanda Kelly and I am a qualified Registered General Nurse. I trained at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton in the 1990's and I have worked at Oak Lodge Care Home since 1993, initially starting as a part time Nurse.  

I was promoted to Deputy Home Manager in 2008 and have acted up as Manager on two separate occasions prior to my recent promotion to Home Manager.

I have worked in care since leaving college and always had an interest in care of the elderly. I am currently working towards my NVQ level 4 in Leadership and Management. I have previously had experience as an NVQ Assessor at Oak Lodge and have attended many relevant courses. 

I feel that as I have been employed at Oak Lodge for many years, I am a face people can rely upon and relate to as well as provide continuity and a stable base for staff, residents and relatives. Promoting and maintaining dignity and respect whilst maintaining confidentiality, are some of the key elements I thrive to maintain within the home.

Having worked for Majesticare for several years I have always found the management to be totally supportive to all their staff and in ensuring that appropriate training is provided to enable excellent standards of care to be delivered.  As the Home Manager at Oak Lodge I will continue with the professional ethos of the home and at the same time maintain the welcoming homely environment that is so often commented on by people visiting the home.
