Choosing a care home

A few things to consider when you're looking for a care home:

Type of care

What kind of care are you or your loved ones going to need now and in the future? At Majesticare we specialise in residential personal, nursing and dementia care. Our homes offer one, both or all of these to the highest possible standards.

Quality of care

Make sure you choose a care home that offers the best possible quality of life and care. Ensure that you ask for a copy of our statement of purpose and take a look at the rating report carried out by our regulator who are the Care Quality Commission. Both documents can be obtained from our homes or you may wish to obtain the rating report by visiting www.cqc.co.uk.

Quality of life

Choose a care home that more than meets your or your loved one’s personal needs. Somewhere where you can continue to do the things you enjoy – whether that’s reading quietly, having a sing-a-long or something more active like gardening or trips to the shops, seaside and theatres.

Visit first

The only way you can really get a feel for a care home is to visit it. Have a good look around, meet the staff and make sure you check out the rooms and all the facilities. Ask to see the daily menu and the weekly activities plan. And take time to talk to the residents and their families – you can’t beat a personal recommendation.
