Ross on Wye

Ross on Wye (1 mile)

This historic market town with Tudor timber framed houses set around a Market Hall has great riverside walks and a market twice a week. Close to Ross is breathtaking Symonds Yat Rock, a wooded limestone outcrop where the river loops around. Spot the protected peregine falcons flying from their nest. Or take a trip out to the ancient and beautiful Forest of Dean.

Goodrich Castle (4 miles)

Britain’s most complete medieval castle makes for a great trip out. Built on a rocky outcrop with exhilarating views over the Wye Valley, it gives a fascinating insight into fortress life seven centuries ago. There's a 12th century keep to explore, along with the chapel and a maze of small rooms and passageways.

Monmouth (11 miles)

Monmouth is a great place for a day visit. A historic town with some fine Tudor buildings, it’s in a beautiful setting overlooking the hills of Abergavenny, Hay Bluff, and the Brecon Beacons and it has plenty of shops and markets to explore.
