Getting out for a breath of fresh air or having a day out somewhere interesting, there are plenty of delightful places to visit within close proximity or a short drive away from Highfields Care Home.
Belvoir Castle England's smallest Cathedral City is well worth a visit. Southwell boasts many fine Regency houses but its greatest treasure is the Minster, visible for some 20 miles across the Trent Valley containing some of the finest medieval stone carving. Just outside the town is the 19th century Workhouse, which is now a fascinating museum, and nearby attractions include the Upton Hall Time Museum and the Bramley Apple Exhibition.
A day out in Newark is a must. Standing on the banks of the River Trent, this picturesque town is famous for its antique fairs at the Newark County Showground. It’s an up-market town with plenty of boutique style shops, cafes, bars and restaurants to enjoy. Admission is free to Newark Castle and it’s often used as a venue for concerts and festivals.
A trip to Belvoir makes for a great day out. Home of the Duke and Duchess of Rutland, it occupies a commanding position on a hill with breathtaking views across the Vale of Belvoir. Explore its stunning interiors with a notable collection of furniture, porcelain, silks and tapestries, sculptures and paintings, and stroll around Rose and Statue Gardens which are elegantly laid out round a central fountain.
