Getting out for a breath of fresh air or having a day out somewhere interesting, there are plenty of delightful places to visit within close proximity or a short drive away from Hempton Field Care Home.
Chiltern Hills, Oxfordshire This is a great day out for everyone. A National Trust property, it’s one of the most theatrical and Italianate mid-18th-century buildings in England with facades designed as classical temples. The interior is really something with Palmyrene painted ceilings, decoration and furniture, and there’s a rococo landscape garden set in the beautiful Chilterns countryside.
There’s lots to explore in this gorgeous market town with a glorious backdrop of the Chiltern Hills. Wander its little streets of 17th and 18th century cottages, many of them half-timbered. Have a tipple in The Pink and Lily, once a favourite haunt of the First World War poet, Rupert Brook and his friends. Or visit The Chiltern Brewery where you can see brewing rooms from the yard, visit the small brewery museum and visit its unique licensed shop.
Another National Trust property well worth a visit is spectacular Cliveden. This beautiful estate was once the glittering hub of high society and home of the Astors. It has magnificent formal gardens overlooking the Thames each with its own character featuring topiary, statuary, water gardens, a formal parterre, and woodland and riverside walks with magnificent vistas.
