Sharon Smith, Home Manager at Lawton Manor Care Home

I joined Lawton Manor in 1998, firstly as the Deputy Matron and then in 2000 became the Home Manager. I only went into nursing at the age of 40 after following a career in finance, bringing up a family and travelling extensively. But after getting my Diploma in Nursing in 1993, I thought my life experience would be beneficial in my new chosen career, caring for the frail elderly.

I feel very privileged to be one of the Majesticare team of Home Managers. The company has always made providing a high standard of care for their residents a priority. They achieve this by making sure all employees have the necessary training to provide a stimulating social care programme and a warm and welcoming environment. I feel very supported by the company and this has enabled me to develop and progress in my position as Home Manager.
