Staff from St Pauls Care Home in Waddington were in London this week to receive a national award recognising their Gold Standard end of life care.
They were among nurses and managers from 36 care homes from across England to receive their Gold Standards Framework in Care Homes Quality Hallmark Awards at the Bi-Annual GSF in Care Homes Event, supported by Age UK.
Paula Wheat Home Manager of St Pauls Care Home in Waddington said “GSF has enabled staff to grow in expertise and confidence and has ensured that all residents are offered complete choice regarding their end of life care
GSF is helping homes like St Pauls to increase the number of residents approaching the end of their lives receive the care they want where they want it, protecting them from inappropriate hospital admissions and helping them to live well and die well in the place of their choice.
Fritha Irwin Clinical Governance and Dementia Lead for Majesticare who own St Pauls’s care home said: ‘ I am delighted that St Pauls has achieved this award – both for our residents and for the staff. People coming towards the end of their life deserve the best possible care and well being and the increased knowledge our staff now have at St Pauls will enable the home to offer this and to support residents positively’
